Data Migration

Problems arising during data migrations are one of the most common reasons for systems development project failures.  These failures are often due to a lack of understanding of the mechanics of data migration. Project schedules typically pay little or no attention to the complexity of data migration.  Instead, all of the focus is placed on analysis, design and development tasks, without regard for migration requirements. Migrating data can cost as much as developing a new system.
